England secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Australia at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening, thanks to a second-half goal from Ollie Watkins.

Gareth Southgate made ten changes to the side that beat Germany 3-2 in the Nations League last month, with only Harry Kane and John Stones retaining their places.

England started the game brightly, with Watkins and Raheem Sterling both having chances to score in the early stages. However, it was Australia who had the best chance of the first half when Martin Boyle hit the post with a header.

England continued to press in the second half, and they finally broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Watkins tapped home from close range after Sterling's shot had been saved by Mat Ryan.

Australia tried to get back into the game, but England held on for a comfortable victory.
