John Hunter Nemechek held off Ty Gibbs by 0.114 seconds to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series Sports Clips 200 at Darlington Raceway on Saturday.

Nemechek started from the pole and led 124 of the 200 laps. He took the lead for good on lap 158 and held off a hard-charging Gibbs to win his third Xfinity Series race of the season.

Gibbs, who started second, led 76 laps and was looking for his fourth win of the season. He had a chance to pass Nemechek on the final lap, but Nemechek was able to hold him off.

Riley Herbst finished third, followed by Daniel Hemric and Austin Hill.

The race was the first of three Xfinity Series races at Darlington this weekend. The next race is on Sunday, and the final race is on Monday.

Nemechek's win moved him up to second in the Xfinity Series standings, 30 points behind Gibbs.

Here are some other notable things from the race:

The race was slowed by two cautions.
The first caution came out on lap 101 when Brandon Brown spun out.
The second caution came out on lap 172 when Noah Gragson crashed.
The race was run under green flag conditions for the final 28 laps.

Nemechek's win was a major boost for his playoff hopes. He is now in a good position to make the playoffs, which start later this month.

Gibbs remains the favorite to win the Xfinity Series championship, but Nemechek is now a serious contender. The two drivers are expected to battle for the title down the stretch.
